Admissions FAQs
What do I send in with my application?
Please send only the filled-out application.
How do you select students?
Seats are offered exclusively through lottery.
When can I see the schools?
You can only visit our Jackson Heights and Elmhurst schools during scheduled open houses/tours.
Do I have to register to attend an open house?
It is encouraged but not required. We host in-person and virtual open houses and tours. They include a presentation and a question and answer session from school management and parents.
Can I bring my children to an open house?
We prefer that only adults attend our in-school tours due to space limitations.
Do you have to live near the school?
No, but there are three levels of priority:
Sibling priority / Employee child priority
Those who live in School District 30 or 24; and
Queens residence.
What average does my child need to get into your school?
There is no average requirement for our school, but if a child is applying for a seat in any grade other than Kindergarten, they must have passed the previous grade. For a seat in 10th grade and up, you must provide your child’s transcript.
Does your school have a Pre-K?
TRCS Jackson Heights has a PreKindergarten program as of September 2014. Seats are available.
If I’m not picked from the lottery, what happens to my application?
All applications are wait-listed for one school year. You must reapply every new school year.
What’s the difference between TRCS and TRCS 2?
Other than their locations, Renaissance 2 - Elmhurst is a replication of our Jackson Heights school. That means that our Elmhurst school is building off of the highly successful programming and academic success that our Jackson Heights school began offering to Queens residents more than 20 years ago.
Why should I apply to both schools?
In addition to sharing facilities like our state-of-the-art gym at Elmhurst, we cross-list applicants on both waitlists. Appling to both schools may increase the chances of receiving a seat for the following academic year.
